The process of getting a hotel license in Lisbon is expensive, time consuming and exhausting. That’s why Hostels and AL (Alojamento Local) are so numerous compared to all other cities we have traveled to on this planet. It only takes around a week to get license to these business but only if you can live with having 8 rooms only. And that’s only financial possible if you turn some of the rooms into dorms with 6 people or more.
We can’t live with that – and we wont. We want to spoil our guests. Like we have been spoiled during our travels all over the world.
We only create things we like ourselves – hotels we would love to stay in when we travel. Small charming & cozy places in attractive neighborhoods.
And we like being spoiled by staff that makes our beds, clean our bathroom and say hi, good morning and good night – and who cares about our breakfast… Places like that are just more romantic and ‘stimulating’.
Maybe I am just old fashioned. But based on our experience from more than 2.500 hotels (from extreme business to ZERO stars), hostels, Airbnbs, private accommodation, hammocks etc. the past 25 years I agree with Condé Nast: Sex in hotels is just better.
