In 2012 when we decided to set-up Tings in Lisbon we fell in Love with a house in Penha de França. For various reasons it didn’t work out, so we widened our research to Graça – the neighborhood at the end of the street.
When we told our friends about these neighborhoods we used Berlin as an example. Berlin is only 6 hrs by bus from our flat in Copenhagen – so for many years it was our second home. We always stayed Kreuzkölln where we love the multi cultural and multi ethnic ambiance and the classic city style from Kreuzberg mixed with the relatively newer post war constructions in Neukölln.
It has an old school Portuguese vibe, it's very colourful, has many great cafes/ hangout spots, beautiful views and loads of murals/ street art. - Hannah, May 2022

Another place popular amongst some young expats is GRAÇA. Some of the places offer very nice views of the city. Lots of cafés and things to do in the area too. Very historic and charming. - Cíntia, May 2021
