Red & Royal Room in Lisbon?

The Portuguese King João V of Portugal was known for his extravagant taste in furniture. Furniture with wooden frames carved with ornate motifs such as scrolling foliage, acanthus leaves, and other decorative elements.  

That’s the kind of bed you find in Red Lounge: an old Portuguese Mahogany bed in Dom Joao V-style (140 x 190 cm). The bed inspired Annette - so she painted the whole room Red - with lamps, bed cover and cushions etc. in black and red. 

From the room's French door you can follow life on Lisbon’s best viewpoint Miradouro da Senhora do Monte on the top of the highest hill in town. 

Like our Green Lounge the bathroom is spacious with a huge bathtub – big enough for two –  and a couch in the window to hang out on.

Sacred Dance by French Photographer Ann Lelong hangs on the wall facing the bed. 

First you enjoy the colors, after a while you recognize it - especially if you have experienced it yourself. The movements, the hats - you almost hear the sound. The way she manipulates these gestures by using the light and exposure only, she manages to capture these traditional Buddhist temple dancers movements and turn it into a kind of poetry art. 

When it got on the wall it was as if Ann’s Sacred Dance soaked all colors and ambiance from the room. 

Red Lounge’s air conditioning will keep you warm in the winter AND cools you down if the summer gets too hot. Like our homemade breakfast and the ambiance from the dancing monks,  it is included in the price.
